The story behind "Respect You" - February 27, 2008

I've had several people ask me what inspired me to write "Respect You". Here is an answer that a shared with somone. (thanks Pamela!)

It's a song I've been contemplating for a while now. I've noticed that there are alot of songs (and movies, tv shows, ads, ect...) in the mainstream that objectify women. I read a poll and it said that one of the top things that women want from a relationship is respect. I believe love is a verb, and not just a feeling (a 40 year marriage isn't held together by feelings). There are alot of guys out there that feel the same way I do... and I hope this song inspires them to not be timid about showing it, and I hope it gives a little hope to women. Don't settle for anything less!

If you haven't heard the sample of the song yet, you can hear it on my page, but I'll be taking it down on friday to make room for a new song sample called "Wealthy".

New Song Preview"Respect You" - February 19, 2008

I have a rough mix preview up on my myspace page for a new song that I wrote... it's going to be on the new record (in which we are mixing in Hollywood as I type this!)

The song's called "Respect you". Call me old fashioned, but it's about showing love for a woman by way of respecting them... I know, it's pretty much opposite mentality of a song written in 2008, but it's how i feel.

Take a listen and let me know your thoughts.

Peace, Love, and Chivalry : )

Internet Blackout! - February 8, 2008

magine you wake up one morning to find that the internet has blacked out!

Well, it actually happened in the middle east last week. An anchor cut an underwater fiber optic cable in Cairo Egypt. Can you imagine what would happen to our everyday routine if it happened here in America? What would you do without the internet for a day?

Scary thought for some of us... especially me!

Day 2 Studio Blog - November 13, 2007

Well, we finished tracking the acoustic guitar, and we're moving into tracking the Electric Guitar next, then all that's left is Bass, Keys and Vocals... I would say the 2 hardest things to record good sounds for are Drums and Acoustic Guitar, so now things should move along a little smoother. I'll put up a video from the acoustic recording in a few days... I posted some photos in the Photo Section.

I'm happy to say that it all is coming out better than I pictured. We've decided to include an acoustic version of "Off My Mind" as a bonus track in addition to the full production version. Keep checking back for more updates, and videos.

I'll be announcing the official song list for the CD in my December E-Newsletter, so, if you're not on that email list, be sure to do so... Thanks for being a part of this!

Day 1 in the studio... - November 6, 2007

VidCasting from the Studio! - October 29, 2007

Most people think that in order to make a great record you need to spend a lot of money on a grand studio, a famous producer, and have a big label budget to push the record. Now days this is simply not true. With the accessibility and quality of home recording gear, the scape is changing. All that is needed to record and push a great record today is good songs, diligence, good players, and a great group of friends. I'm not saying it doesn't cost money, but it can be within the grasp of those who are qualified and diligent enough to hold it.

This Friday I'm starting to track my first full-length CD, but not in an expensive studio. Myself and some close friends are pooling our resources to set up a makeshift studio in a house. I will bring my video camera along and let you all see the progress. Every few days I'll post a video for you to see, and you will basically be involved with everything from Tracking to mixing, to CD cover art, to reproduction, the CD release, and even the promotion process. In the end, the goal is to produce and promote a great record on a non- label budget. Tune in to see it unfold! You can expect the first post to be sometime around next weekend. It's going to be a fun one...
